Why I Sing: The Ministry of Nelly K

For me, singing is far more than a performance; it is a mandate. I believe that music is one of the most powerful tools for evangelism ever created. While we are all called to the ministry of reconciliation ; 2Corinthians 5: 18, God has specifically anointed me with the office of the Evangelist. Together with my husband Pastor Samuel Kusimo, we carry a specific assignment: to take the Gospel into “strange places”—those corners of the world where the name of God is not yet served or honored.

A Vessel for Heaven’s Melodies

I sing because I cannot stay silent. God speaks to me through songs constantly—in the stillness of the night, in the middle of a busy workday, or during moments of leisure. These songs are not my own; they are gifts from the Father that I am simply tasked to share with the world.

Mentoring the Next Generation of Levites

A vital part of my ministry is providing spiritual guidance to fellow Levites and song ministers. In an industry that often emphasizes “skillmanship” and vocal prowess, it takes deep discipline to navigate the grace of God without losing one’s soul to the craft. I am dedicated to helping artists balance their musical excellence with spiritual integrity.

A Mirror of the Believer’s Journey

Gospel music is a reflection of who I am in Christ, what my mission is on earth, and a rehearsal for what I will do for eternity when I finally make it to Heaven. This is the same for every sincere believer. My music serves as:

• A Celebration of God’s Faithfulness: I use my voice to celebrate the God who blesses me without end.
• A Testimony of Victory: Most of my songs are born from personal encounters with God in different situations. I have seen incredible triumphs in my life through the power of worship. Whether I am in the midst of a challenge or standing on the other side of a breakthrough, my songs are the stories of my journey with God—monuments to God’s unfailing faithfulness.

I don’t just sing to be heard; I sing so that the world might know the One who gives the song.
