Music that heals

Music’s profound power to soothe and heal is a theme woven throughout biblical narratives. It’s not just a pleasant sound, but a divine tool for restoration and spiritual well-being.

Here is a scenario from the Bible where music served as a healing agent:

  1. David and Saul’s Torment (1 Samuel 16:14-23): King Saul was afflicted by a “harmful spirit from the Lord” that caused him great distress and anguish. His attendants suggested finding someone skilled in playing the lyre to calm him. Young David was brought before Saul, and whenever the evil spirit came upon Saul, David would play his lyre. The scripture states, “Then Saul would become refreshed and well, and the evil spirit would depart from him.” Here, music healed mental and spiritual torment.
  2. Music that facilitates Spiritual Connection and Prophecy (2 Kings 3:15-16 ) : Like with Elisha, music can open the spirit to receive divine messages and therefore foster an environment for prophetic healing as it deepen one’s communion with God. Spiritual music prepares the heart and mind for insight and revelation.
  3. Songs of Praise & rejoicing: The Psalms are filled with songs of praise and rejoicing. A merry heart doeth good than medicine (Proverbs 17:22). Joyful songs of praise supports spiritual and physical healing.
  4. Music that builds Faith and Encouragement: Hymns and spiritual songs often recount God’s faithfulness, power, and promises. Singing these truths can strengthen faith, and remind believers of God’s unfailing promises which are foundational to healing.
  5. Communal worship: When saints sing together, it fosters a sense of unity . This communal experience births the corporate anointing that brings healing and miracles., Music that unites everyone in Christ provokes God’s healing and miracles.
